In/Out, In/Out – Out for ‘Le Crunch’

O’Driscoll and Stringer are out, in a huge blow to the Ireland team.

O’Driscoll has failed to recover from a Hamstring, and Geordan Murphy will fill his spot, promoting Andrew Trimble back into the squad.

Stringer’s fractured hand makes him a no-no as well, with Ulster half-back Isacc Boss back in after a fine autumn performance. Eoin Reddan of Wasps plugs the gap on the bench.

“Brian was close to being fit but felt a tightening of the hamstring,” said the Ireland coach Eddie O’Sullivan. “Emotionally, it was a difficult decision to make but an easy one from a practical point of view.”

“Isaac Boss will bring a different sniping game to Stringer – but after his performances in the autumn, I have no worries about him,” he said.
Denis Leamy is still able to play, despite having an abscess incised and drained on Monday.
