Ireland U18 Schools lose to England
Ireland U18 Schools narrowly lost 23-12 to England in the final of the U18 Schools 6 nations Tournament in Glasgow.
Ireland entered the game with confidence after wins over Italy and France, and although England went ahead in the 13th minute through a penalty, the Irish pack got on top for the remainder of the first half and grabbed their first try shortly before the break. A missed conversion meaning Ireland led 5-3 at the break.
A penalty shortly after the break put England in the lead as they began to slip from Ireland’s grasp, the backs utilising the small amout of space they were able to find to score (and convert) two more tries.
Irish skipper Peter O’Mahony finished a fine performance by putting over the try and Ronan O’Mahony converted, leaving just enough time for England to have final say with a third penalty from Miller.
