Contepomi writers’ player of the year

Guinness Rugby Writers have named Leinster and Argentina star Felipe Contepomi the Guinness Rugby Writers of Ireland Player of the Year.

In 2007 Contepomi helped Leinster reach the Heineken Cup quarter-finals and finish third in the Magners League, qualified as a doctor, and was at the forefront of Argentina’s successful World Cup campaign (scoring 91 points).

He was also nominated for the IRB Player of the Year award.

• Tom Rooney Award for Exceptional Contribution – Phil Orr
• Dave Guiney Award for Team of the Year – Ireland Under-20s
• Guinness Hall of Fame – Ken Kennedy and Alan Duggan
