Three bidders in line for the 2015 World Cup
Those countries that want to host the Rugby World Cup in 2015 have very little time left to get their tender documents into the International Rugby Board (IRB) in Dublin. The decision regarding which country is to host the tournament is expected in July this year and so far there are only three contenders.
South Africa, England and Italy have all handed in their documentation thus far. At present there is speculation that there might be other countries entering the fray, but so far nothing has been confirmed in this regard.
Italy would be a first time host and with the manner in which the country’s rugby has progressed in the last five years, it is thought by many to be one of the favourites for this honour. South Africa hosted the tournament in 1995 and England has performed the same honour as well.
The decision is likely to favour the country that is able to bring greater exposure to the game of rugby in the manner in which the previous World Cup did in France.
