Japan to bid for hosting RWC

The nation of Japan has become increasingly prominent on the international rugby scene as it has worked hard to groom world class players. While there is still a lot of work to be done in this area, one cannot but help be impressed with the country’s sense of purpose.

It is therefore not surprising that Japan has put itself forward as a potential host for the Rugby World Cup tournaments in 2015 or 2019. The country is to submit its tender documents to the IRB in Dublin today and they will be joining the likes of South Africa, Italy and England.

If successful, this would be the first time that the event is hosted by an Asian nation. The country is said to have support of its counterpart nations in the region and there are expectations that the tender would likely contain proposals for a couple of games to be played in Hong Kong.

The IRB is expected to make its decision on the matter known in July this year.
