Homecoming plans underway
You can usually expect Dublin to be quite quiet on a Sunday as people enjoy the opportunity to get out into the country over the weekend. But this was certainly not the scene today at all as more than 18,000 rugby fans made their way to the capital. They wanted to be sure to catch a glimpse of their Grand Slam heroes and add their voice to the volleys of cheers that continuously went up around Mansion House.
The Irish team returned victorious today and the coach Declan Kidney and Brian O’Driscoll held the trophy aloft to the shouting delight of all the fans. It was a great homecoming celebration for the Irish team.
One fan had traveled to Dublin from Kildare and probably captured the feelings of Irish rugby fans everywhere when he stated that this was a great day for the Irish game and the boost that the country needed. There is no doubt in the heart of Irish rugby fans today that this is only the first sign of great things to come.
