Ian McGeechan will not name an extended preliminary squad for the tour in South Africa later this year.
McGeechan said:
'Instead of selecting and announcing a preliminary squad this month, we have decided that we should instead work closely with each of the four Home Union coaches in the lead-up
Not unexpected news by any means, but at least now the appointment has been confirmed.
McGeechan is part of an elite group of people who have coached and played for the British and Irish Lions, and even within this elite group he has a pretty fantastic record!

After the Irish World Cup performance, what would it take for Eddie still to be offered the job and not McGeechan (or possibly even Gatland for that matter?).
Is a Grand Slam required in the Six Nations 2008, and if so is it a possibility?
